I had wondered what happened to Tonc Feinig after leaving his intense first impression on me in 2004 with the "Bite" album, and now he is finally back! This is another great outing with the foundation of Rhodes/bass/drums accompanied by horns, and NYC vocalist Miles Griffith providing tasteful insanity on several tracks. Tonc's Rhodes sound is extremely powerful, based on the classic Mark I + Twin Reverb. He explains: "I'm using a Fender Mark I 88 Stage, with a Twin Reverb Amp, miked with 1 or 2 shure 57, sometimes a cry baby wah wah pedal (on Sometimes)." "Sometimes", "FuzzRoom" and "FKK" are my top picks. |
