Every track on this CD features Michael McDonald on the Rhodes (except for track 6 - no Rhodes). This is one of the main albums that inspired me to get a Rhodes in the first place. Michael McDonald is at his best on this album as far as the Rhodes is concerned in my opinion. |

As far as the songwriting goes, this album isnt one of the Doobies best. As far as orchestration and arrangements go though, this album is probably their best. Really good analog synthesizer work and Rhodes work by Michael McDonald. It is very keyboard heavy and the vibe of the whole album seems very influenced by the addition of John McFee on guitar and Cornelius Bumpus on sax/keyboards (although I dont know if Cornelius played any keyboards on the record). It is very percussion heavy as well.
A very good example of how the Rhodes can be used in pop music. One of my personal favorites. |
