Bennie Maupin, reeds, glockenspiel, voice; Herbie Hancock, piano, electric piano; Charles Sullivan, trumpet; Buster Williams, bass; Frederick Waits, marimba, drums; Billy Hart, drums; Bill Summers, percussion. This album is out-of-print but available on vinyl. VERY atmospheric at times, but definitely worth hearing the Rhodes in an environment similar to the Mwandishi period. Hopefully ECM will one day re-release it, as Bennie is a historical figure - "Bitches Brew," "Headhunters" - and a super talent, always showcasing his unique tone and harmonic approach. |
