The Rhodes on this record is mostly in the ensemble parts but is to the fore on a couple of numbers.
Most of the tunes on this record were written by Norman Whitfield (compser, arranger and producer of "I heard It Through The Grapevine") which guarantees their funkiness. There are a couple of obligatory pop numbers but for the most part the tunes are funk monsters.
I thought about getting a "Best of Rose Royce" compilation but I found that all the best (funky, non-slushy) tunes were taken from this soundtrack.
There seem to be a few records with similar titles floating around which don't contain the entire material. Make sure you get this one (MCAD-11502) which contains ALL of the soundtrack. |
