Like Al Jarreau's self-titled 1982 album, this is another must-have for lovers of the ultra-smooth L.A.-style Rhodes sound (shortly before the rieign of the DX 7 began...) Tommy LiPuma produced and all that era's heavies are in, lead by keyborder L. Leon Pendarvis through a set of tunes of which many have become Randy Crawford trademark items, i.e. "You Might Need Somebody", "Rainy Night in Georgia" and "Rio De Janeiro Blue", with Ernie Watts' great flute solo - one of my all time faveourites. And...yeah, great voacls all over, of course! |
