This is a great album! I saw these guys play live in London a couple of years ago & they rocked the house!
The vibe from those concerts comes through loud & clear on 'Fihavanana'. The band are really tight & very, very funky, with a righteous blend of Rhodes MkII, fretless bass, drums & Roberto's virtuosic violin playing.
Roberto's sun-drenched compositions (written during a year spent in Madagascar) are skillfully mastered by all involved. There is some fantastic Rhodes playing on this album too with a keyboard that not only sounds great, but has been lovingly blended into the mix .
Released this year, 'Fihavanana' is a welcome reminder that the popularity of the Fender Rhodes will never die. In a word, this album is 'Righteous'! |
