This is another under-rated (probably because of the vocoder), groove-based album that features some nice Rhodes work. The song "Come Running To Me" has some really complicated time changes and cool Rhodes soloing for what some consider simply a pop-ballad. I highly recommend it for Rhodes and 70's "sus-chord" lovers. |

Yes I gave it 5 stars... It's the perfect summer album! Could there be a more sunny sound than "Sunlight" or the legendary "I Thought It Was You"? Even mega-producer and hitmaker Pharrell Williams said the track "Come Running To Me" is one of his all time favorites, and who can blame him? "No Means Yes" has a killer (tho brief) Rhodes solo (which is actually transcribed in one educational book). And then the record ends in a completely different note, an acoustic jazz samba jam with Tony Williams and Jaco! I also LOVE the shot of Herbie inside his "spaceship" aka all his vintage keyboard arsenal. |
