interesting, odd record with the famed acoustic pianist integrating rhodes into a choice set of material (as the cover suggests, he indeed plays both simultaneously most of the time). evans gets an original (and surprisingly percussive) sound out of the electric instrument--- especially on the harmonically complex "Dolphin". some tracks don't exactly catch fire, and some of the arrangements are distracting, hence the 3/5 rating. still, a fascinating curio, to hear what the instrument sounded like before its sound was developed in jazz-funk, fusion, and r&b. |

Beutiful album, the first track "What are you doing with the rest of your life" is amazing. switches between a grand piano and a Rhodes, which i think is a silvertop or a fender Rhodes mark one? definatly a wooden key model |

One of my favorite Bill Evans albums.A complete record with orchestra to follow the great pianist.Evans shows how the Rhodes should sound in piano jazz albums. |
